NORTHUMBERLAND

This tartan dates to c. 250 AD and was adopted as the official dress of the Duke of Northumberland's piper in 1760.  Today it is accepted as the Northumberland district tartan.  It is also called the Shepherd's plaid, and the Falkirk tartan.
